Customer Testimonials
“In the course of business, too often we do not take the time to appreciate or acknowledge those who help make our business better. Too often we do not take the time to contact the people who should be told of good employees working for them. We are quick to write or call about problems and to complain. I wanted to take the time to acknowledge MHF employees, Patrick Alcorn and Reid Muchler. Both of these men are good representatives for your company. They are always there to assist me, quick with the quotes and quick with a response to get me the needed rail cars. I appreciate their efforts and they have made me look good to my customers. I just thought you should be aware of the quality of employees you have working for you.” Jonathon Smith, President

“In providing transportation services for the Ashland 1 FUSRAP project, MHF mobilized additional rail equipment to accommodate an accelerated shipping schedule as requested by the USACE. Their ability to provide timely service and safely manage an expanded rail fleet contributed to the efficient execution of project funding and shipment of over 58,000 tons of radioactive material during the first 100 days of the project.” Mark T. Schwippert, Project Manager
Ashland 1 FUSRAP, Shaw
“Like many other rail movements that MHF and CSXT have worked together, I understood that our portion of the (Maywood) move, as well as other segments, was accomplished without any problems, which can be attributed to a great extent to MHF's experience, equipment and management.” D. David Jones, Business Manager
CSX Transportation, Inc.
“As you know, we just completed the last phase of the Maywood FUSRAP waste shipments with MHF. It was a pleasure working with you on this phase of the project. NYSW has been involved with other shipments related to this project, but working with MHF on this past phase has been flawless. We feel the ability of MHF to provide a project-specific Project Manager, daily tracking of the shipments and their own private gondola railcars on the project was instrumental in the successful completion of the last phase.” Ann C. Relic, Vice President
New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad
“In the fall of 2001, Three Mile Island Unit 1 executed the 1R14 Maintenance and Refueling outage. Outage scope included a Turbine Retrofit Project to increase output from the plant. The Turbine Project required the removal, packaging and transportation of approximately 2.5 million lbs. of used turbine components to a radioactive waste processor in Memphis, TN. MHF was called upon to provide intermodal containers and the specialized heavy haul rail equipment to safely and efficiently transport the components and three Low Pressure Rotors. MHF proved themselves to be a valuable member of the Turbine Retrofit Team by safely completing 46 truck (components) and three rail (Low Pressure Rotors) shipments ahead of a very aggressive schedule using quality equipment, professional drivers and project managers, and by being very responsive to the needs of the project.” Mark Sweigart, Waste Handling Supervisor
TMI-1, Three Mile Island Power Station

“MHF was able to quickly provide intermodal containers and railcars to ship mixed wastes to Envirocare. We were under pressure from Ohio EPA to have the waste removed from our site or suffer penalties. MHF and its project people were able to have the containers to us, pass through our inspection process and get the waste off the site. It was the first time we used intermodals to perform work. MHF made this activity unproblematic and cost-effective.” Jyh-Dong (JD) Chiou, Project Director
Soil and Disposal Facility, Fluor Daniel Fernald
“MHF was able to convert several waste streams from truck to rail without impacting schedule or having to repackage the waste. They came up with this unique cargo container overpack system that could be shipped by rail. MHF reduced our shipping costs by 49 percent over the methods we were using. In fact, the cost savings paid for our rail upgrades on the project, which opened the door for future waste to be shipped by rail. They are an extremely customer-oriented company whose sole purpose is to reduce your shipping costs, without impacting quality or safety.” Margaret (Peggy) Loop, Environmental Engineer III
West Valley Nuclear Services Co.
Technical Services
“MHF Technical Services provided the best proposal for the Final Status of our Western Service Center, and assembled an experienced and qualified team to assist in our facility decommissioning project. They have been responsive and flexible in accommodating our schedule requirements, and are demonstrating technical strength in the on-going efforts.” Steve Zastrow, WSC Facility Manager
